My Story
For nearly 40 years, John Helmick has been helping families turn their ideas into homes they'll love for years to come. As the owner of Builders Plan Service, John believes great home design starts with listening. Every family is unique, and every home should reflect the people who live there while meeting both their needs and their dreams.
John's passion for residential design began in high school and has stayed with him ever since. What started as an interest in architecture grew into a lifelong career focused on creating homes that are beautiful, functional, and practical to build. Whether he's designing a custom home, planning an addition, or reimagining an existing space, John enjoys working closely with clients to create designs that fit their lifestyle, vision, and budget.
Growing up in a military family, John learned the value of hard work, integrity, and keeping your word. Those lessons continue to shape the way he approaches every project. Clients appreciate his honest advice, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to helping them make informed decisions throughout the design process.
Over the years, John has designed thousands of homes throughout Augusta and the surrounding communities. While home styles and construction methods have changed over the decades, his philosophy has remained the same. Every project deserves careful planning, thoughtful design, and personal attention. To John, designing a home is about much more than creating a set of plans. Outside the office, John enjoys spending time with his family, working on creative projects, and living by the values that have guided him throughout his life and career. His personal motto, "Never Give Up," reflects the perseverance and dedication he brings to every challenge.
